Michigan Friday: Public Notice

Big House Blog readers I have a public announcement, the college football regular season is over.  This Saturday sneaks up on me every year because it feels like a regular college football Saturday.  There is a college Gameday but only one game, the traditional Army - Navy Game.  No need to check the schedule to see what games you should watch in the Noon, 3:30, and Primetime windows.  No need to set up your meals and snack schedule around the Michigan game.  No need to pick your be your flip over games in every window, so you don't have to watch commercials.

This is one of the saddest days of the calendar, sure everyone loves Army - Navy but it's a sure sign that the season is complete.  I have a solution for future years!

Start the Non-Power Conference Playoffs this Saturday.  Yes, we need to work on the name.  America would tune in and it would also keep college football rolling.   Give me JAX State vs EMU, Costal Carolina vs. UNLV, and so on.   It would be MACtion at an extreme level.

  • John U Bacon says that a 5 year, $55M contract is in front of Jimmy right now and all he needs to do is sign it.  This makes a ton of sense for a number of reasons.  1 - the NFL season is winding down and Jimmy will be a candidate in every opening in media reports, even if he isn't.  2- Michigan is currently #1 in the nation, with 3 Big Ten Championships in a row, and 3 wins over Ohio State.  3- Locking up Jimmy will really help recruiting with a signing day in two weeks.  4- Nobody wants to work for David Tepper.   Put pen to paper Jim!
  • Manny Diaz has taken the Duke head coaching job.  He was Penn State's DC and the former head coach of Miami.  Manny is back in the ACC.  It's amazing to me that there wasn't really any big name coaching hires this off season.
  • Michigan will open the 2027 season against Buffalo

Let's get this contract extension done. The longer it drags out the worse it will be for everyone, especially the fans. Working as an NFL coach means you are somebody's bitch boy, whether it's David Tepper or Daniel Snyder, Jimmy won't have the cushion or the pull like he has here at Michigan.

I love Bob's bowl game schedule. The teams are still fresh from the regular season. Why make them wait a month to play again? Seems like it would cause sloppy play and injuries. Plus, I don't need a week straight of games I won't be able to watch anyways due to work. Gonna have to pay these teams going forward to appear in a meaningless bowl game. The good players are going to sit out if there's nothing in it for them.

Jim isn't signing any extension until he does his little dance for the NFL. There could be as many as 10 openings and if Jim gets the chance to bolt to the NFL and not have to deal with the NCAA, he GONE!

Chowman- Jimmy's had hundreds of opportunities to go to the NFL. He can go wherever he wants and write his own ticket. He hasn't. Why would he? Jimmy doesn't give a crap about the NCAA. Lol

Brady, please. what opportunities? The sad hamburger in Minnesota when they asked him what he was doing at the HQ? Denver? when it was Sean Peyton or bust? Carolina and David Taffer? When Taffer wouldn't acknowledge he had a phone call with Jim? If Jim really wanted to stay in AA he'd of signed an extension 2 years ago. Between Warde cutting his salary after the 2020 season and the NCAA investigations, if he get an offer, he's booking to the NFL. Bears are most likely firing Eberflus, it just hasn't worked. Las Vegas already fired Josh McDaniels. Jim's got history with both franchises. The question isn't is Jim interested in the NFL, that's a given, the question is the NFL interested in Jim, and that answer the past 2 years as been a resounding NO! If he doesn't get a NFL gig this offseason, he's never getting back to the league.

Chowman- You're watching waaaay too much ESPN. They love coming up with all the NFL naratives like that. Fake news. Stop taking the click bait and block out the noise.

ESPN had Jimmy leaving Michigan 20 times over the last 5 years. Lmao ESPN and Twitter are trash.

ESPN had Jimmy going to Washington. Then ESPN had Jimmy going to the Jets. Then ESPN had Jimmy going to help his brother in Baltimore. Then ESPN had Jimmy going to Minnesota. Then ESPN had Jimmy going to Chicago. Then ESPN had Jimmy going to Jacksonville. C'MON!! Fake news.

ESPN said Michigan would lose to Penn St. Then ESPN said Michigan would lose to Ohio St. Then ESPN said Michigan would lose to Iowa in the B1G Championship (3 hosts picked Iowa, 2 picked Michigan, I'm not making this up) The only thing ESPN does is get things wrong and stir shit up to get ratings.

How many times you gonna fall for the ole banana in the tailpipe trick?

Brady, you do realize that a lot of that smoke was/is coming from Jimmy's agent right? Trying to drive up a market for Jim's services! And you going to deny he flew out to MN only not to get an interview? It was him and his agent saying he reached out to David Taffer, not the other way around. Don't get it twisted, its not that Jim's not interested in the NFL, its that up until now, the NFL has been lukewarm about Jimmy! He has a reputation of being difficult to work with! With the Raiders and probably the Bears looking for a new coach, if Jim doesn't get a job this year, he never will!
