Well folks we made it! The regular season is over, Michigan beat MSU, PSU, and OSU during the regular season and took out a frisky Iowa team in the Big Ten Championship game. We are now sitting as the #1 team in the nation and get to play a historic Alabama program in the Rose Bowl. This is want we've wanted and we are finally here.
Yes, there is still work to be done. Michigan still has a very difficult challenge in playing the Crimson Tide. It's not a great match-up for the Wolverines, who struggle with pass protection and very athletic QB's who can beat you with their legs or arm. Of course, Alabama has both of those things. Still, we have a month to break down those story lines and strategies. Did I mention our rival is sufferings some chaos as we speak? Ryan Day didn't commit to Kyle McCord as the OSU starter moving forward during their Bowl Game (against Mizzu in the Cotton) Conference Call. So Kyle jumped into the portal this morning.
Today, we need to feel the sunshine on our face on top of the mountain as Big Ten Champions and the #1 Team in the nation. Feels pretty damn good to be back where we belong.
Other News and Notes:
I'm shocked on what the committee did to Florida State on Sunday. I'm pretty sure I saw OSU win a national championship with its 3rd string QB. You can't be an undefeated ACC Champion with 2 wins over the SEC and be kept out. I think we all should be Booing Boo loudly.
Are the Bowl Games over?
Neither Georgia or FSU wants to play in Orange Bowl. Did you see any interesting match-ups? I saw maybe one or two. Oregon vs. Liberty made me laugh out loud. Players who have an NFL future don't want to play in these games and the match-ups are pretty awful. With the 12 game playoff next year, I think the bowl games will become obsolete in a couple years.
What about the MAC, Sun Belt, Mountain West, etc? There needs to be a playoff format for non-power conference teams. If a team like Liberty thinks they are really good, they can decide if they want to be the #1 seed in this tournament or the last seed in the CFP. This is a great opportunity for a corporate sponsor and TV rights. Play it on Wednesday and/or Friday nights and don't compete against the CFP. I think college football fans would eat this up!
- Mizzu's coach Eli Drinkwitz is already making Connor Stalions jokes regarding playing Ohio State. Glad we have moved to the jokes stages of this BS investigation.
- Its portal day, there are 1600 players in right now. More every minute. Got money - need a QB? Or Maybe your Coach Prime and want 5-6 offensive and defensive lineman.

Yes FSU should have been in the playoffs but I'm happy we don't play them. To me, it was a no win situation for the Wolverines. Win and people say we were suppose to beat a tram without Jordan Travis, lose and it would TCU all over again. I preferred to play and beat Georgia. Beating Alabama is a good consolation prize. While it will be difficult to beat Bama its not impossible. Hopefully the time off gets most of our guys fully healthy especially JJ. His mobility will be the key Offensively for us. Extending pass plays and scrambling for 1st downs will be key imo. Making Alabama concerned about JJ running ability will help open up Corum and Edwards. Defensively, we have to be able to contain their qb. Hopefully the pass rush is there in his face all night long. He isn't a top notch passer and I think we can get a turnover or 2. I'm excited for the match up.
So many Buckeyes are jumping ship that MichiganMan is going to have to start at DB, and he's packing for Dubai in a couple days. Sad to see what's happening in Columbus......
Kirk Herbstreit was correct, pick the four best teams .... Alabama picked off the number one team .... are we forgetting strength of schedule. Anyone that thinks differently should seek therapy for their dementia. Although Florida State was more of a cupcake, now we face the top "crocodile in the swamp. I hope we beat them, but at best odds are 50/50.
I do not feel sorry for Ohio State, let all of the players leave, then they play their female cheerleaders, and our player's can "cop a feel on every play".
If it’s the 4 best teams, why isn’t GA in there? They clearly are a top 4 team - a #1 hasn’t dropped to 5 after losing by a few points.
FSU should be in there, otherwise stop with rankings until the very last one.
Didn’t hear about McCord in portal. That’s nuts and hilarious. What other Ohio players are jumping!?
