Wolverine Wednesday: Nico Gets His Contract

Nico was not part of Michigan's championship run.  His last season at Michigan was the terrible 2020 COVID year, which he decided not to participate in.  Ironically, he found a QB in the NFL with former Ohio State QB CJ Stroud and had a big year last season for the Houston Texans.

On Tuesday, Nico got his big money contract for 3 years and over 72M.  Very happy for him and his family.  Invest smartly Nico!

  • Bronny who averaged 5 points a game in college is staying in the NBA Draft.  He did have a good pre-draft workout at the combine and moved up from close to the 100th prospect to under the top 60.   Someone will take him in the 2nd round.
  • Utah which is leaving the now deceased PAC 12 for the Big 12 but was rumored this weekend to be heading to the ACC.  That rumor was shot down by the Utes.
  • In Florida they play Spring High School Scrimmages/Games.  Michigan QB commit Carter Smith played two teams in 4 quarters and rushed for 7 TD's.
  • Rumor is USC has spent 2 years trying to get out of its Sept 1 game vs. LSU in Vegas.   That will be the Primetime feature in Week 1.

USC is the most over hyped school in history. They get a ton of former players' kids because they all live out there in La La Land, and haven't won squat.

Carter Smith is sounding better every day. He's from my former town of Ft Myers, FL. and is a highly skilled dual threat QB.

The last really good dual threat QB we had was Denard. For some reason, Michigan doesn't try to utilize the RPO or a running QB. Hoke turned Gardner into a drop back passer, then a WR. Both experiments failed. Same could be said about Tate Forcier, although he was said to be a head case. It will be interesting to see how Orji is used this year.

We must see if Orji can throw for more than 5 yards in a game setting.
