Carr gives advice to Bielema and Jeff Smoker in the AFL

  • LC gives advice to the young Wisconsin head coach: ``He said, 'Find some place where you can get away twice a year and just relax and think about things,' '' Bielema said. I assume one of the locations was not on a sailboat in Florida.
  • Tom Lemming likes Michigan's class: Lemming said he likes the way Michigan is recruiting and believes the Wolverines' two quarterback recruits, Kevin Newsome and Shavodrick Beaver, are among the nation's best.
"I saw Newsome in December, and I thought based on overall athletic ability, he may have been the best quarterback overall," Lemming said. "A week earlier, I saw Beaver. He's a diamond in the rough. Michigan has two of the very best spread offense quarterbacks committed to them."
What you don't see so far among the Michigan commitment list is a large number of players rated highly by the various recruiting services.
"They're recruiting their type of player," Lemming said. "They're not recruiting what the Internet sites tell them to recruit. You recruit guys who fit in a system, and they're getting three-star guys, so people are getting mad. But they're getting good athletes. They're not the typical Michigan recruit, the five-star recruit, but they're the guys who fit."
  • More depositions released in the WVU vs RR case. I have very little patience for this distraction, but more information was released on Monday. I think one point made in this article is very accurate. Why has all the "power" left WVU that was involved in this he said - he said case? Mike Garrison, president, gone; Craig Walker, chief of staff, gone; Steve Farmer, Board of Governors, gone; Soon to be retired Athletic Director Ed Pastilong. With all these guys leaving their positions it has to give credibility to RR.
  • Jeff Smoker the former MSU QB that lived up to his last name is enjoying playing Arena football for the Arizona Rattlers. "The people are nice. The fans are great. I'm enjoying life and doing well. As long as I still get to play football, that's all that matters. It gets a little hot here in the summer, but there aren't a lot of prettier places to be for someone like me."
