Michigan vs Toledo Preview

The I-23 South Bowl? The State Line Rivalry?

I have read this week that this game is way overdue, Ann Arbor is only 52 miles from Toledo and many fans fans have wanted this game for years. Really? I'm not sure who those fans are, but if your one of them, This is your week! I wonder if there are more Buckeye or Wolverine fans in Toledo? I'm guessing Wolverines. I am also guessing if Columbus found out, they would have to pay more state taxes.

On to the preview:

We all know this Michigan team pretty well by now. The offense can move the ball for the first two drives, takes 2 quarters off, fumbles a few times, and then scores again in the 4th quarter.

Toledo, runs the spread and scored big points against Eastern Michigan and Fresno State in two over times. The last two games have not been so good, last week the Rockets were shut out by "a Michigan Man" Brady Hoke's Ball State Team and a loss to Florida International. They are 66th in the country in scoring offense and on defense 89th against the run and 109th against the pass. (you do not want to know where Michigan ranks in those categories)

No need to do the tale of the tape this week, because it would be all Blue favoring the Wolverines.

Does anything scare you about this game? Yes, Toledo runs the spread and Michigan always has trouble defending it. Michigan also has a way of keeping teams like this in the game.

With that said, this game shouldn't be close. Michigan has better athletes on both sides of the ball and really out matches Toledo when Michigan's Defense is on the field. This should be Michigan's easiest opponent all year.

Things I would like to see from Michigan in this game:
  • At least 30+ points on offense

  • No Turnovers! None!

  • Michigan Defense creates two turnovers

  • Michigan D holds Toledo under 10 points

  • McGuffie with 100 + yards, Shaw with 50+ yards, Minor with 75 yards receiving and running.

  • Down field passing. Threet with at least 200+ passing yards

  • Michigan plays with a lead and keeps it all game

  • From the Coaching staff, turn the boys loose: build confidence and let them have some fun

  • Michigan covers the 17 point line at home

  • The band plays "Rocket Man" at half time

Michigan 38 Toledo 7

Go Blue!
