Michigan Monday: Opening Recap and Recruiting Updates

As you know, Laquon Treadwell didn't announce a decision and now is planning to take some official visits.   This is a highly ranked WR with everyone in his ear, that is why he says he is ready one day and then the next day he isn't.   Let's just hope his recruitment ends sooner then later.    If it does, that is a good sign for the Wolverines.   From reports Laqoun did very well at the Opening and was clearly one of the top WR's in the country.

Two Wolverine commits made the Opening 7on7 All Tournament Team:  Those two were Jake Butt and Jourdan Lewis.

Jourdan was also the Champion of Nike Skills Challenge.

Shane didn't win any awards but did impress during the 7on7 competition.

The vibe from Michigan recruits Kendall Fuller and Alvin Bailey are they are not going to be Blue next signing day.  Kendall has Virgina Tech and Clemson tied for his leader and Alvin Bailey believes Michigan is too far from home.

Derrick Green is planning to make it up for the BBQ at the Big House.  Green has a top 13 list with many believing that Clemson is the leader at the moment.

Alvin Bailey's teammate Leon McQuay might make it up for the BBQ but that depends on his dad.   Leon's leaders are Vandy and USC due to their Music departments.  He is very serious about that major.  He hopes to do an official to Michigan this Fall if he doesn't get up for the BBQ (which also conflicts with the GridIron Kings at Disney).

For those that hadn't heard there was a ton of "noise" that David Dawson was planning on going to Florida's camp this month for a Big House BBQ type of event called "Friday Night Lights".   It seemed David felt the camp would not be breaking Michigan's no visit policy for committed recruits.  That was until he spoke to the Michigan coaches.   They felt differently and now David has cancelled the trip.

  • The Michigan Family lost Charles Drake, starting strong safety for Michigan from 2001-'02 this weekend.  I have not heard how Charles past but I do remember him and he leaves us much too young.   My thoughts are out to his family and teammates.

  • OSU's starting senior LB Storm Klein has been dismissed from the team after getting arrested.

  • EMU Eagles have landed (verbal commitment) their first 4 star recruit ever in Toledo QB Brogan Roback.  Congrats to Ron English.
