Michigan Tuesday: Speed at The BBQ

Most Michigan recruiting fans are hoping Laquon Treadwell will fill Michigan's last WR spot in the 2013 class.  With Alvin Bailey giving out strong signs that he wants to stay closer to his home in Florida.   Many believe it's Mr. Treadwell or bust for Big Al Borges and last WR spot in this class.

Well, there is another name that has been popping up and we really don't know how serious he is in becoming a Wolverine.   That players name is Devon Allen from Phoenix, AZ.  Devon is 6'1 190 lbs.  and is known as a track star.  He is a 4.4/4.5 guy and rated as a 4 star WR by Rivals.   He has an offer list that includes 24 schools which include the likes of OSU, ND, UCLA, Oklahoma, Stanford and others.  Michigan has had some recent success with pulling guys from that area in Craig Roh and Taylor Lewan.   I'm betting one of those guys will be his host when he hits town.

Devon Allen is planning a Mid West tour at the end of this month and will make a stop by Ann Arbor for the BBQ at the Big House.   I doubt Devon will make a commitment on this trip but there is only one WR spot left in this class and if he grabs it, then that's it for Mr. Treadwell.

  • David Dawson Update:  David tweeted he spoke to Coach Hoke and that he is the best head coach in the NCAA.  I think that Florida Camp thing is behind us now.    David also has become good friend with RB Derrick Green.  Treadwell has called Shane Morris his best friend.

  • Tim Hardaway and Trey Burke were both at the invite only LeBron James Skills Academy.

ESPN's Tom Luginbill give us his post Opening takes:
  •  Shane Morris (Warren, Mich./De La Salle) has really improved his control and accuracy. He's learning to settle down and not throw the ball 100 mph every time he drops back. He's becoming more patient and he is starting to see that he can take what the defense gives him.
  • Laquon Treadwell (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee) is explosive and he can rise up and grab the ball. He has tremendous upside and should be a productive performer in college.
  • Jake Butt (Pinkerington, Ohio/Pinkerington) did a good job over the last two days. He's a good athlete and going to give you a solid effort every time out.
  • Jourdan Lewis (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech) showed great cover skills. These guys feel comfortable on an island.
