Michigan Monday: Coach Speak

Brady Hoke says Michigan is not considering a graduate transfer QB any longer.  He said at the Sound Mind and Sound Body camp on Friday:  "I think we're pretty set with what we have," Hoke said.  "I believe in the guys we have in the program," Hoke added as well.

The issue is Brady's confidence hasn't risen with the likes of walk-ons Brian Cleary and Alex Swieca or incoming freshman Shane Morris who most expect needs a redshirt, he just couldn't find a suitable guy that wanted to come in and be a back-up.  Most quality starters who are transferring want to start.   Either Brady over played his hand here or the guy they had on the line didn't materialize.

  • Speaking of Shane, it looks like he is enrolled in summer classes at Michigan and putting in some work with his teammates.  Here is a photo of a 5AM workout flex off with Funchess, Rawls, Hayes and Norfleet.

  • Michigan's Summer Football Camp starts today.   This camp will have mostly 2015 & 2016 and beyond kids looking to make their mark on a the recruiting process.   It the past few years, there have been kids that earned scholarships and were surprise offers.  I will be surprised if there are any 2014 offers go out with the size of the class, but expect to see a few 2015 offers.

More from the Sound Mind and Body:

  • Cleveland Glenville sent 50 players to the camp
  • Out of the 50 players, 2014 athlete Marshon Lattimore  looked good and worked out mostly at DB
  • There were some legacy guys at the camp that did well like 2015 TE/DE Ty Wheatly Jr.,  2015 DB Tyler Woodley (Lamarr's cousin) and 2017 LB Joshua Ross (brother of current Wolverine LB James)
  • I guess there was also a short exchange between coaches Vrabel and Mattison.  The Internet is saying that Vrabel wasn't coaching his kids the entire time he could have and was trying to send his players to Mattison's area early.   Mattison snapped at Vrabel that he should be maximizing his time with the kids and leaned over and told current commit and former OSU commit, Lawrence Marshall:  "That's why you don't go to Ohio" in reference to Vrabel not coaching up the kids.
