Big Ten Weekend Preview

I guess the new normal for the Big Ten is to have a number of teams have byes each week, so they play later in the calendar.   Michigan gets to put it's feet up for it's second bye this week.

So whose playing this week?

Big Ten Game of The Week:

Northwestern at Iowa:  You first reaction might be, WHAT?  PSU at OSU is the 8:00 ABC game.   Yes it is, but I'm not very high on Nittany Lions and think OSU will roll them in about 2 quarters.   So this game is the one that intrigues me the most.   Northwestern has lost three games in a row and was supposed to be the Big Ten's second place team and now Iowa looks close to finishing their re-building project and played Ohio State close in C-Bus last weekend.    Is Northwestern healthy?  Is Iowa back?  This could be a very good game if you love Big Ten Football.   Iowa is favored by -3.5.  I don't think the Wildcats will lose 4 in a row.   NW 27 Iowa 24    WGFM: NW win

MSU at Illinois:  This is another interesting game.   The Spartans better not be looking ahead to the instate match-up next weekend.   MSU has trouble scoring points and if Illinois can keep the turnovers down, they could steal this win.   Illinois is showing life after being way down for many years.  MSU is -10.5 in this game and I think that's way to high if Illinois keeps "clean" during the game.   MSU 17 Illinois 13  WGFM:  Illinois win

Nebraska at Minnesota: like the other two games above could be interesting.    Minnesota got a big win at Northwestern last week and Nebraska is hoping Taylor Martinez is healthy and can play.   I'm not buying the Golden Gophers yet and Nebraska is the better team.  With that said, Minnesota could sneak out a win here.  The Cornhuskers are also 10.5 favorites on the road.  Too many points.  Nebraska 31 Minnesota 24  WGFM: Golden Gophers win

Penn State at Ohio State:  Ohio State played a close game over Iowa last week and Penn State was off after attending a Circus with Michigan and being the team able to throw the ring over the coke bottle for the win.   Ohio State is not in the same league with the FSU, Bama and Oregon's of the world, but they have plenty to beat Penn State.   I don't expect this to be a close game.   Like Michigan, there is plenty of tape out there on how to beat the Nittany Lions.    OSU is over a two TD favorite in this one at 14.5.  OSU 42 Penn State 13  WFGM: push

Hey Bob, Could you do us all a big favor and update your PSU vs ohio prediction?
It would be really good if you predicted that ohio would have the game in hand by the end of the 2nd and would be playing their 2nd string in the second half. :-)
Maybe, just maybe it will have a familiar affect!

GO BLUE!
