Big Ten Weekend Predictions

The Big Ten has some very high profile games this weekend and can really make a statement nationally.

Michigan is at ND, MSU is at Oregon and Virginia Tech is at Ohio State.  All games will be play during primetime and the Big Ten will hold the college football audience from 6:30 EST to close to 11:30 PM.

Big Ten Game of the Week

MSU at Oregon:  This is a very good week 2 game and a top 10 match-up.  The Ducks have struggled against physical defenses and MSU will be bringing just that.   On the other hand,  Eastern Time Zone teams have struggled when playing a regular season game in the Pacific Time zone.   This will be a great game against strength vs. strength and the difference might be if MSU can score points on the Ducks offense.  This line if very tempting for those that like a little action as MSU is getting 11.5 points.   The line was as high as 13.5 on Monday.

Other games:

Howard at Rutgers:  This sounds more like a debate then a football game.  No line. Big win by Rutgers.

Central Michigan at Purdue:  The Boilermakers don't want anything to do with Thomas Rawls at running back for the Chips!  Purdue is favored at 3.5 points.  Go Chips!  CMU 24 Purdue 20

Akron at Penn State:  Michigan knows how Akron can embarrass a team.  Penn State is back from Ireland after a big win over Central Florida.  Penn State still has issues but their good young QB will throw a couple picks and probably 500 yards.  PSU is favored by 14.5.   There will be some tired players on the Penn State side but will win big in the end.   PSU 38 Akron 14

Western Kentucky at Illinois:  The best thing in this game is WKU's red mascot.   Illinois is favored by 6 points.   I have no idea what either team has.  Illinois 10 WKU 7

Maryland at South Florida:  It's hard to know which conference either of these schools belong to.   Maryland is favored by 12.5.   Maryland 31 South Florida 21

McNeese State at Nebraska:  Wow, Nebraska has a tough schedule.   No line

Ball State at Iowa:  The Hawkeyes struggled last week against Northern Iowa but did win in the end.    Brady Hoke is not walking through that door for Ball State.   No line but I think Ball State hangs for awhile.   Iowa 28 Ball State 17

Middle Tennessee at Minnesota:  I saw a few minutes of the Golden Gophers on Saturday and they didn't look half bad.   They are 16 point favorites and shouldn't have any issue this weekend either.   Minn 42 MT 21

Northern Illinois at Northwestern:  Watch out here.  Northwestern had a bad loss last weekend against a team many had predicted they would beat easily.   Northern Illinois is no joke and could easily make the Wildcats 0-2 before they know it.  Northwestern is a touchdown favorite, lets see if they learned anything from last week.  NU 31 NI 27

Virginia Tech at Ohio State:  When they booked this game it looked like it was going to be a great match-up against two ranked teams.  Well, OSU is ranked 8th and Va Tech isn't in the top 25.  OSU should win this game easy in the Shoe, but with out Miller it might be harder then they expect.   Another close one for a half and then OSU pulls away in 3rd and 4th.    OSU is favored by -11.  OSU 24 VT 14

ND - Michigan will be profiled on Friday morning.
