Michigan Friday: Preps for The Tourney and Football Weekend

First things first:  Michigan takes the floor tonight against a strong Ohio team.  Many have predicted an upset over the #4 seed Wolverines.   If Michigan plays defense like they did early in the Big Ten season and hits a few shots, I think they will be ok.  I would really like to see them make the sweet 16.   Good luck and Go Blue guys!

  • Michigan also kicks off Spring Practice this weekend.   Today we will hear from Coach Hoke if there has been anymore attrition to the roster.  I hope there isn't but some attrition usually happens.   This will also give us an idea on the number or recruits they are working with in the 2013 class.   The start of Spring Practice equals a big recruiting weekend so kids can see the coaches in action in a live practice.
Michigan Weekend Visitors:

DT Henry Poggi - He is very high on the Wolverines and could be on commit watch even though he is not planning to commit on this visit.  Many feel it's a Michigan - Alabama battle with Michigan having a slight lead.   Let's hope he is moved to commit this weekend.   His good friend and Michigan verbal - Kyle Bosch might also come up to hang out with Henry and watch practice.

TE Scott Orndoff - just de-committed from Wisconsin and knows he doesn't have a lot of time if he wants to get into Michigan's class.   He would be the 3rd and final TE, so if he loves Ann Arbor he might have to jump at the offer as well.

RB Deveon Smith - has some ties to Michigan and this will be his second trip to A2.   The coaches are very high on him and if he wants to pull the trigger on a commit this weekend, I think the coaches would take it.   He has gone back and forth on whether he is ready to make a decision right now.

RB Derrick Green is coming in on Sunday and has an impressive offer list.  Many fans believe it's a race between Isaac and Smith to commit.  Don't count out Green yet.

  • Former Wolverines seemed to have a good Pro Day yesterday.  Odoms ran a 4.39 and Van Burgen impressed some head coaches.  He was cleared to run just a couple of weeks ago.  Media was not invited to the event.

  • A quick clarification:  Ty Isaac is planning on going to USC next week, not this weekend.

Let's hope this is a great weekend for Wolverines Fans!
