Michigan Recruiting Blizzard

  • Je'Ron Stokes a 4 star WR visited Ann Arbor this weekend and the initial reports are that the visit went very well.
  • Michigan commitment DeQuinta Jones DT, of Bastrop, La., had a good visit with Auburn this past weekend. Also in the mix are Arkansas and Oklahoma.
  • Travante Stallworth visited South Carolina this weekend. “I am still committed to Auburn, but they (USC) are up there in the mix,” Stallworth said. “My top three are Michigan, Auburn and South Carolina.” Coach Rod is going to visit Travante at home this week. Michigan would like Travante at Slot WR and maybe even at QB.
  • Sam Montgomery DE who visited Ann Arbor last weekend visited North Carolina this past weekend.
  • Barkevious Mingo LB visited LSU this weekend and is getting a little tired of the recruiting process:To be honest, I am getting a little tired of it all, mostly all of the attention that comes with it. It’s tiring,” Mingo said. But “I’m not going to commit this weekend. I have come this far. I might as well wait it out. I am ruling out a commitment this weekend.”
  • Chris Bond a 6-foot-7, 323-pound offensive tackle has Michigan in his top 5 and will announce today. Expect Chris to go North Carolina.
  • FL QB Denard Robinson is getting recruited by Michigan, Florida, and Georgia. Most guess that Denard's decision will come down to Michigan and Florida. One potential positive for the Wolverines is they have space in this class and a need for Denard's teammate, DB Adrian Witty. It's unknown if the Gators will give Adrian an offer. On a side note from Varsity Blue: (many schools are recruiting Denard at DB and not as a QB) Photographer Tim Casey and I visited him at practice for the Dade-Broward All-Star Game this weekend, he certainly has a big-time arm. While his size isn’t the greatest (even 6-0 might be a little generous), Robinson is an incredible athlete and deserves every opportunity to play the position on the next level.
  • Michigan is also planning on getting a visit from Austin Dantin a QB from Florida. Austin is 6'2", 185 lbs., runs a 4.5 in the 40. He is rated a 2 star QB from Rivals and has an offer list from teams like Air Force, App. State, Army, and Central Michigan.

There are only two more weekends left before signing day on 2/4.
