Michigan Thursday: You Just Have To Love Jabrill

Don't you want to be a Pepper to?  That used to be Dr. Peppers slogan back a few (thousand) years ago.   I have a feeling there might be a few T-Shirts the fall of 2014 when Jabrill puts on the #2 jersey (a guess) for the Wolverines in Ann Arbor.    Jabrill published a new blog post on USA today and had some really good nuggets for Michigan fans:

I talk to Leonard Fournette and DaShawn Hand a lot about coming to Michigan.
First, with Leonard I'm trying to stress to him the importance of us having Derrick Green. Derrick is one of the best young running backs in the country and with him taking reps along with Leonard they could be the best 1-2 punch in the country.

The best part is that it would preserve him more because he's not gonna have to take on the whole load by himself. He'll get a blow and we won't lose productivity on the field. Getting those breaks will allow him to have a longer career than most running backs.  It's a win-win. Plus Leonard really understands how big a Michigan degree would be for him so I feel good about him.

Then with DaShawn, I always tell him that we can make each other better. We can really feed off of each other because we're both playing on defense. We'll put the clamps on the receivers and he'll pressure the quarterback. It's the perfect compliment with both of us on the field at the same time.
They're both really cool dudes and really serious about their academics first. That's what I love about them. They're obviously really talented and whatever they decide to do they've got a fan in me, but hopefully they'll come join Team 135 and we can all start our legacies together and bring Michigan back where I know it's supposed to be.

The kid has confidence and is serious about his academics.  He said he finished his junior year with a 3.7 grade point average.    This guy has a great chance to be Michigan's next Charles Woodson and might have be the most hyped recruit to come to Ann Arbor since Drew Henson.   Since he is writing blogs now, he might be coming to Ann Arbor to play offense, defense, study, write music and maybe come for my job as well!

  • FYI Fournette's visit to A2 this weekend is still "up in the air", his HS team is playing in a 7 on 7 in Cleveland and they leave on Sunday.   It's going to be hard to find an open 10 hours or so to make the trip to A2 and back but it still could happen.

  • The Big Ten Kick Off Meeting will happened again in Chicago on July 24 and 25.  Players attending from Michigan include: Devin Gardner, Jr., QB, Thomas Gordon, Sr., S and Taylor Lewan, Sr., LT.

  • With the new Big Ten it seems the Michigan - Nebraska game is going to go dark for a many years.  Unless, they meet in the Big Ten Championship game.  Here is your new 9 Game Big Ten Schedules:

peppers has said repeatedly he doesn't want to be the next Charles Woodson. I think as soon as #5 is available, it's his. If I'm not mistaken, Courtney Avery will have just graduated, so he could be all set. he wants to be his own player, which you have to respect.
