Michigan Thursday: Thank Goodness Austin Hatch Was In Class

As you have heard by now, the plane carrying the Michigan Basketball team slide off the runway yesterday at DTW in high winds.   My first thoughts were, 1 - is everyone ok?  2- is Austin Hatch ok?  That young man has gone through hell and I didn't want another bad plane experience for him.   I was a bit relieved to hear he was not with the team and was in class when this happen.

It was also reported the team had to practice in the dark yesterday, due to a power outage.

The Michigan Basketball team might be a bit tired and banged up today as they are leaving for the airport at 6:00AM and playing Illinois in DC at noon.  The Big Ten should adjust the schedule.  Good luck to them today!

  • The word is out on 6'9 400 pound IMG offensive lineman, he already has a write up in SI.  He was the guy that a Hawaii coach found working out in Australia and attended one of Michigan's satellite camps.   He is now at IMG and learning how to play football.  He hasn't played a down yet, but it is already clear he is going to be a beast and will have an offer from every major program in the country.

  • Former Michigan 2018 commit Jalil Irvin has committed to Auburn.

  • Manny Being Manny alert! Manny Harris has signed a 10 day contract with Dallas.

  • OK 2018 safety Josh Proctor just got a Michigan offer.

I hadn't even thought about Austin Hatch. The incident actually occurred at Willow Run Airport not DTW. Willow Run's abbreviation I believer YIP.

They were able to adapt and overcome.... played a strong game against IL... Now hope they get a good night sleep and come out tomorrow against the Boilermakers like they did a couple weeks ago.

GO BLUE!
